"The Perfect Complement"
Michael and Lynda were looking for a kitchen that was open, made
the best use of space and was a design respectful of the rest of
their Late 1920's Bungalow.
They were fortunate in that their home was already in fairly good
shape, but needed the expertise of Arciform to bring their ideas
to fruition. In March 2001 they began what many know to be the most
difficult part of the home to remodel while still living it in it.
By the September 2001 they had the complement they had always wanted
to the rest of their house.
Arciform built paint grade kitchen cabinets with period style hardware,
installed a cherry colored Pergo floor, "Slate Scape"
counters and created a beautiful two color green tile back splash
that was a perfect fit to their soft yellow walls and clean white
cabinetry.
Michael Shay is a photographer by trade and put the lighting of
the space on a high priority. We lit the counters with can and used
adjustable cans to highlight a wall designated for artwork. Over
the sink and in the center of the ceiling we mounted fixtures in
the style of the 20's.
Designer Anne provided inventive designs to incorporate seating,
and used glass doors on cabinets as well as open shelving to give
the kitchen an open and airy feel. New doors were also added to
the existing pantries, always keeping in mind the style of the house
throughout the design of the new space. On the floor we installed
dark cherry colored Pergo which gave the space a rich feeling.
Michael and Lynda's kitchen was successfully and respectfully integrated
into the rest of their house and is a harmonious space they love
to come home to.
